Former Julius Baer Hong Kong managing director Alfred Tsai is joining BNP Paribas Wealth Management in October this year to lead its China business, AsianInvestor reports.

According to the news service, Tsai will be responsible for growing BNP's Chinese franchise and platform out of Hong Kong in October, having left Julius Baer in July. BNP declined to comment when contacted by WealthBriefingAsia.

Since mid-2009, Tsai had served as MD and senior relationship manager at Julius Baer, with a focus on China operations. He also previously worked as China market head at Credit Suisse's private banking business and was part of the private banking investments arm of Merrill Lynch.

BNP Paribas has a private banking operation in Shanghai which caters to clients with at least $1 million in investable assets.
